Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
