Football Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but can the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' sole away win this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
