NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes text commentary for the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available on designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , after recent talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests were the number of penalties each conceded. The Eagles committed them at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter versus the Denver Broncos, who play in London this weekend.

However it was positive to observe how Denver quarterback the rookie managed to overcome that deficit and then lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos have the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily rushing extra pass rushers but they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

At the start of the season, we said during a show how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended last season well then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has stepped up big and new running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in positive situations.

It's also benefited QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.

His strengths include his mobility, being able to throw while moving, as well as using varied release points to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to deliver that layered pass across the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the defence to stay on the field for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must cover the field vertically and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really develop him how he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

Payton has won a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the success Denver are having on offence is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, that's a solid position to hold their division. All they need is to continue this path.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win a game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking takeaways decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

After this Sunday's game, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.

This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
