Recent Information Emerge About the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
The Discovery
As detailed in an account referencing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family also disputed several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Additionally pushed back against published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to reports of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
